Oh my God! How on earth will I answer this question? I feel ashamed everytime I see these poor nations and the level of terror and negligence they live day in day out. Where are Arab officials? Where are Human Rights oraganizaions? Where's humanitynin the firt place? What are we doing for them? None! Absolutely nothing! Let alone Islam and Arab Union, where are we as human beings?
I cry in pain and disgrace at what I could have done to them and I havent! It's so painful to retreive the agonizing reminiscence!
Wallah I'm full of tears and the sorrow is building up everytime I see them suffering! Damn! I wish I could do something to help!
I truly understand your sympathy. I also share your sense of helplessness. Even if and when donations reach them, it won't bring back the dead or restore their dignity.
But have you noticed how the Arabic reaction in general and the Kuwaiti in particular to what is going on in Gaza is so different and milder than the reaction on the Lebanese war? Why?!! Why did we see massive action to support the Lebanese people finanically, morally and politically and we see NOTHING being done to our Plastinian sisters and brothers?
Is it because we "know" Lebanon and the Lebanese? Or is it the result of 50+ years of brainwash that desensitized agaist the scenes of murder and humilation against the Plastinians?!
My friends in the US wrote me asking how they can help and what we're planning to do .. I was so ashamed to say NOTHING !!!!
When I was thinking about the reasons, I thought of what you said; that we still hold them accountable for their stand against the invasion. But it's very hard for me to accept this! We forgave the Iraqi people, the Jordanian and Sudanese regimes and many others. Why still hate the Palastinians who, out of all the others, had some sort of justification for their stand?
If we use this as an excuse then it is merely a defense mechanism so we don't really face the horror of our inactions.
Unlike other regimes and people, the Palastinians are not a single identity. They had varying attitudes and stands during the invasion. For those of us who stayed in Kuwait during the invasion we saw that clearly. I for example, I would not have survived the invasion if it wasn't for the support of the Plastinians. So why do you think we choose to remeber the bad and ingnore the good?
Geish@ 7bibty,
I am sure you did not mean what you said :) I know the anger and confusion you're going through .. turst me.
But there is nothing that is "hopeless" .. things become hopeless when WE give up. Are we ready to give up? Do we have the right to? Ethically, morally and even religiously?
A. Temmi ;)
I really don't think a nuclear war will bring peace! Not even the threat of it. We and the Plastinians will be its first victims!
awal shay kel3am wenty bkhair, el3omor kela inshallah .. if i hadn't know any better, i wouldn't think you were a day over 25 based on your personality as presented in your topics and comments. true story.
thaani shay i did not say a nuclear war will bring peace .. nor did i say the threat of one will bring peace
but if you are suggesting that a country which, even if only on the surface, is 'with' the palestinian case was to be in possession of nuclear technology and still this would not make a difference to the equation, then i beg to differ and am willing to debate this further
besides, i don't think anything "nuclear" is a threat anymore, rather a reality. i've already gotten with the program.
وعلى خطاك أسري يا رامسفلد if you're catching my drift
Saddam, "on the surface", wanted to fight for Palastine. So does Al-Qathafi ! Did that give enough support for their nuclear testings? Does it?
Crash dear,
Wecome to our discussions .. I'm glad you shared your point of view because it does reflect the opinion/stand of many Kuwaitis and Arabs.
I do agree that I care about my kids future. The future I want for them is where they can live in FREEDOM, PEACE and DIGNITY. I don't wish for them to be rich and slaves.
If we, or our children, are FORCED to co-exisit then we lost our power and our will. A decision to accept coexistance should be ours and from a power stand and not fear. Such decsion does not seem to be very attractive right now given the history of abuse and aggression.
7akima dear,
I have an ethical problem with nuclear weapons in general. I also have my doubts about the stability and genuiness of the Irani regime.
The Irani nuclear power will help balance the power for a short while. But will ster other forces that may lead to the regime falling in the wrong hands. This will mean the end of us all.
let me first say: sadam's words (and one missile) in saying he supports the palestinian right, and his actions in shedding the war to the east, and later to the south.. not to mention his internal "policies" would be sufficient for anyone serious about "supporting someone" to realize he's full of shit. his nuclear program was "terminated" by the israelis in 1981 by an air raid,, 1981 being the operative date here
be that as it may, i did not say i supported anyone on the surface in aid of the palestinian cause.. i said the existence of that variable would change the equation. here's what i said bel7arf:
"but if you are suggesting that a country which, even if only on the surface, is 'with' the palestinian case was to be in possession of nuclear technology and still this would not make a difference to the equation, then i beg to differ and am willing to debate this further"
so please don't put words in my mouth. i.e. if sadam WAS in possession of nuclear energy, then still this would change the equation. so would ilqathafi, so would the KSA (or at least i hope the KSA) ..
case in point: india and pakistan
bit off topic but related by a thread to make myself clearer: i'm a supported of the North Korean nuclear program and testing. which by the way is another case in point
crash, coexistence = implementation of the concept and call for the dual sovereign neighbouring states
coexistence = equity, demilitarized borders and internal grids
coexistence = working by the so-called UNSCRs issued for 39yrs now and everything in between
i can go on, but i'm not sure you'll appreciate the facts of the matter unless you forget the whole "Palestinian/Kuwaiti" thing .. it's not what this is about, nor has it ever been, nor will it ever be
D&M Dear, Thank you for the update! I wonder where are our "heros" in the UN? What sort of lobbying is there, is any?!
Me Love, I couldn't agree more. This seems the most reasonable thing to do. Any idea why this is NOT happening?! This is what really amazes me?
A. Temi elmo7taram ;) What is the point of "a" change if it is not in our favor?! It's not a matter of just making "a difference to the equation" because the difference made with any form of WMD is catastrophic, irriversable and we and the Plastinians are the first to taste it!
money spent on artillery and "war making" can be spent otherwise.. but the reality of the matter is that it is not spent on 'otherwise'
ethically, utopia-cally, "the-way-it-is-supposed-to-be-lly", yes.. i know what you're saying
but the truth based hard fact of the matter is that we're not in a KG playground anymore where the bad guys get a slap on the wrist and the good guys always come on top
i need not remind you of the money spent on arms and the grants (aid) given to israel for armarment alone
i also need not tell you where Olmert is right now and has been for the past 2 days
if we are ever to learn anything from modern history, it should be what happened between hitler and chamberlain with application to post 1967 events
