It doesn't really matter who's side he's on .. he could be on Mubarak's side for all we care. What matters is that every person has the right to speak his/her mind irrespective of how much we agree or disagree.
As for the "list" ... Shilemhin ;)
Dear Outlaw, Happy Birthday ;) It is very scary, I agree. I also think one of us can and will be next. What to do?!
This really shows the power of bloggers and it also shows that governments in our part of the world have put that on their agenda.Just yesterday a friend of mine who is blogging for some long time now has been informed that he will be lawsuited soon.. very scary
i think a more fitting title would've been: who cares?
-
ilmohem, not to hijack your post but it's been over two weeks now since publication and i have still not found any space that discusses seymour hersh's latest article. any thoughts on it, mom? come to think of it, o ma dam this post has already been hijacked (by yours sincerely), any further thoughts on how that article relates to ehud olmert's 'confession' about the pre-planning of the war on lebanon?
El blog is all yours. Feel free to hijack any time :))
Lately I have been too busy with myself :( I'm afraid I missed that article. Do you have a link to it? As usual, I will be more than happy to analyze and discuss!
7akima love, feel free to etza3leen my son :) he cools down as fast as he combusts ;) As his aunt, etmoneen :))
as for putting one and one together, and in regards the consideration of olmert's recent (alleged?) testimony (to the winograd commission), here is a vid that both refreshes memories on past events and thus offering a review in hindsight, as well as leaving the floor open for considering mr hersh's credibility if one is in doubt for one reason or another

najaat elsagheera, 3asa dom inshala bkhair w 3afya :)
Hussien dear, Good luck to your friend. I am aware of the Egypt, KSA and Bahrain cases. I thought thought something similar is happening in Kuwait without our knowledge :(
Temi hon :) I will go through both and will come back to you ;)
I totally agree! It gets harder to defend the freedom of speech of those you strongly disagree with, bit in the end this is the real measure of one's convictions.
I think am the one who's gonna be 'stoned' here not Kareem, and not in the good sense even :) but I honestly believe that your freedom of speech stops when you start offending/insulting others. I certainly can't call someone 'a lying f***in' wh*r*' (excuse my French), for example, and say it's my freedom of speech.
I am totally appalled and disgusted by those who insult Islam in the name of criticism and freedom of speech, which the likes of Kareem are claiming to do. I've managed to read a post of his, but couldn't navigate much in his blog because, apparently, an angry hacker has taken it upon himself to infect Kareem's blog with a trojan(s). So didn't wanna push my luck with my Antivirus.
I really can't find it in my heart to sympathise with Kareem and his likes. If you don't like being a muslim, then shut up about it and go live somewhere else.
another issue whats with the new blogger "nawafco"....I dont have a problem with him...but my problem is with all "our" fellow bloggers who visit his blog and comment with "great article nawaf"
Ummel3yal..i dont know if u visited his blog...but i hope u do...and explain to the poor ghasheema how to deal with such ppl...cuz wallah i cant hold back my terriost feelings when i see ppl insult islam and call prophet Muhammed (AS) an imposter!!!
Now that i said that and got it off my back...I looked at the videos that Temi posted above...and HUNNY whats new!!! al7amdillah I know what they are talking about very well...and in a way i feel sorry for them...they are panicing and dont really know how to respond to Iran's and in general the Shia's power and authority in the middleast...and all what they are doing proves that they are preparing for "you know who's" appearance!!
See them panic like that makes me happy...cuz in a way it might mean that he might be here sooner than we think!!!
Or maybe I am just a lil too excited and hopefull today
You're lucky today and will be spared stoning today ;)
Here is what I beleive: everyone has the right to beleive in what he or she beleives. The freedom of beleif was protected by Islam before any other philosophy or system. What would you do if you had lived during the time of profit Mohamed? Seeing Jews and Christians living happliy ever after? No one then told them "If you don't like being a muslim, then shut up about it and go live somewhere else" ;)
And yet this is not the issue. Whether we agree or not, empathize or not, feel ofended or not is all irrelavant!
It is safer and healthier to know what people think and beleive than supressing them and leading them to underground activities like what is happening in our sister countires.
He did not step on anyone's freedom. He did not use unfounded personal attack on anyone and definately did not use foul language. He simply expresses an opinion and attacked Al-Azhar which we all know how "Islamic they are" :)
Witty .. Sorry, I did not mean to post my reply yet but got interrupted. I will continue in my reply to 7akima ;)
My other terrorist daugher :)
Unfortunately I don't know the blog you refer to. URL? I barely visit my friends as you know :) Been too busy lately :(
In all cases, I am alway happy with blogs, books or any other media that forces me to think and defend or re-explore my belefs and values. It always makes make stronger whether I change my mind or not. If, as you say, many people agree with Nawaf, doesn't that tell us something? Isn't that a good opportunity for you to jump in and guide people to the light?
If you ask me, I'm never confrontational, even though I raised two terrorists so far ;) Instead of attacking I try my best to remain clam and ask questions that help people THINK :) Once we think we will all reach the same conclusion. 1+1=2 :)
If someone uses the internet to express his/her opinion he/she is not stepping on anyone's freedom. Its not like public TV or formal newspapers or education system like our "Muslim brothers" do ;)
So, the best course of action is not silencing those voices we hate to hear. The best alternative is to coach them to sing or simple close our window ;)
As for A. Temi's video, I understand what you're saying but, with your persmission, I would like to discuss it in my next blog. The issue is too interested to be a side issue :)
Eshdawa dear,
I can't agree more. To me this is the worst form of dictatorship.
It is not the issue of Kareem or 7aleem, its a matter of principle.
Ghasheema Well, thank you. I'm glad you agree with me :)
Umm El3yaal hala feeeech hon :* It's good to be back :D
As for the issue at hand, I never said anything about the freedom of belief. I am totally for it. And certainly didn't mean the Christians and Jews when I said 'shut up about it and go live somewhere else' :) I meant that for Muslims who don't wanna be Muslims. For those who criticise Islam and condemn its involvement with our daily lives and support secularism.
The other example I gave with the use of foul language, was also not directed at Kareem. Like I said, I didn't read much of his posts. It's an example of how one's freedom of speech can be an insult to others. Having said that, there's nothing wrong with a civilised discussion about Islam if you really disapprove of it and feel the need to criticise it.
Kareem's issue with Al-Azhar is part of the story, but not the whole of it, as far as I understood.
I'm a proud Muslim and won't let others attack Islam in the name of their freedom of speech, just like I won't let anyone attack my mom, for example. The least we can do for our prophet, who's gonna go out of his way to 'yeshfa3 lena youm el qeyama', is to defend him against imbeciles who claim otherwise! (e7em! chenni 3a99abt? lol)
In conclusion, I am no radical, but I can't bring myself to sympathise with Kareem or his likes.
7abibty "not radical" o mo m3asba inshallah, Witty ;)
You can't believe in freedom of speech and "won't let others" offend you ;) Logically doesn't add up .. LOL
As I said, you really don't need to empathize :) I would not empathize with Salaf or Ikhwan but would not accept any law or action that will prevent them from speaking up their minds .. even though this will help heal my ulcer much faster ;)
You can't possibly mean that we let everyone insult everyone 3ala obo freedom of speech, otherwise, we will cease to live in a civilised society anymore :P
ya rabbi, ma77ad fahem 7orriyat el kalam ghairi? LOL
bas ham love you despite our disagreement hehe. Keep up the good work :) o salamtich men el ulcer. Eb Kareem wala feeech <-- freedom of speech, innit? ;)
LOL, I stand by my point! Freedom of speech is NOT a licence to insult or offend :P كل واحد وله رايه وحق التعبير عنه، بس لا تسبني ولا أسبك .. نتفاهم باحترام والا نروح الإسم أحسن hehe
And it's today ;) Yalla, aby hadiya please! abeech agree with me ashoof LOL
Great to have you in our corner on the other side of the world :) I was in Portugal few months ago for the first time and I made many great friends. Hope to add you to the list :)
Witty love,
Happy Birthday toto ;)
Wallah I agree. I don't agree on insult or personal attacks. So I don't accept someone accusing me of lying. But I should accept anyone to say "I don't agree with what you say or what you beleive in" or "give me proof for what you're saying" or simply "your opinion is not founded and I have a better theory" .. this should not be offensive. This is the heart of freedom of speech. If we start to put limits, we will never agree on those limits and we will end up something like KSA or Iran :(
So, hope you accept my gift ;) Or I have to send you a dozen of the rahash cupcakes I discovered lately ;)
But for the record, insults are limits on the way you express your ideas but not on the idea. You can't tell me I'm 7mara, but you can say I lack IQ ;) I do that in business everyday :))

Now that we opened that topic..not only in Egypt....another countries shoud be added to the list :|
as a blogger i think there should be a "free speech" and the i idea of "you'll get arrested for something you wrote on the net" is kind of scary :x
ps: why is that guy supporting denmark?

Ummel3yal,
you can read this post to know more about the situation that i mentioned earlier.
for your second question, there is no gp representation at the moment in Kuwait but there is some follow up work with Kuwaiti ngos.
omi oryaana,
this is a vid that does well to sum the whole thing up, according to mr hersh
for a prolonged session of reading, here is the article to spend some time over
as for putting one and one together, and in regards the consideration of olmert's recent (alleged?) testimony (to the winograd commission), here is a vid that both refreshes memories on past events and thus offering a review in hindsight, as well as leaving the floor open for considering mr hersh's credibility if one is in doubt for one reason or another
